Friday Fashions - Boots

A few years I had to give up wearing heals.  It felt like the end of the world .  . .  a little dramatic, yes, but I think a lot of women can understand my feelings.  Shoes are such a huge part of your wardrobe.  Mine were pointy-toe stilletos, the flashier the better.  Shoes always made me happy – they always fit (even if you gained weight), always look good, and make any outfit look better.  So, when my doctors told me I had to quit wearing heals after suffering a hip and back injury, I was crushed!  I immediately decided I was smarter than the doctors and could switch to platforms and chunky heals rather than switching to . . . .flats (gasp).  Just saying the word made me kringe a little.  However, I quickly came to my senses when the platforms and chunky heals did not help reduce my pain.  I finally surrendered and went on the hunt for my first pair of Flats.  It was Winter and I found Riding Boots.  Ever since, I have loved them!  Not only are they comfortable but I love how they can give my outfit an edgier look.  This season I am looking for more casual styles to match my Florida style.  Plus, I want to wear them with miniskirts and dresses since my winter will be much warmer this year!
I love this Rustic Brown style from Madden Girl and appreciate the affordable price (under $100)!  The quality is great too!  My Madden boots always last multiple seasons!

This Black Combat style from Sketchers will be great with dresses, especially for knee-length styles since the boot height is only 14 inches, reaching a few inches below the knee.  I also like that this style offers a slight western feel giving them a softer look than other combat- and military-inspired boots.

Another military style I love is the traditional lace-up style – think Dr. Martens!  Unfortunately, I never like how they look on me.  I wear a size 10 and have a small calf so I feel like lace-up styles extenuate my large feet and “chicken legs”.  However, I found this style from Aldo that has just enough detail, like the double zippers and buckle, to balance out my proportions.  This styles is a little more expensive that I would prefer but still a great value at under $150!  (Hopefully, I can hold out for a sale!)

Happy Boot-Hunting!
